I lost a child to the Occupy movement.

itsallgone:

Just thirteen days ago I was eight months pregnant.

Everyone loved rubbing my belly.

I even wore my “Baby On Board” shirt over my gigantic stomach.

Why were you there if you were pregnant though??

I just dont see the logic here.

This is a terrible terrible loss if it really happened… but why would any 8 month pregnant woman go to the front lines of a protest in NYC and stand against the NYPD??

Also- no one thinks you got an abortion because you cant get an abortion in your last trimester.

Also, everyone with blood ON them was taken for questioning and for them to make sure you were ok after the fact, even the pepper sprayed people.

This sounds to me like one of those things where people decide to give a story that will add fuel to the fire of something, if they give just enough vague details mixed in with gory ones and heart-string ones, without a general area, the time of the event or the officers involved… so Im sorry if this actually is somehow true, but you should realise that it sounds like an uninformed teenager wrote this.

view of the first wave of OWSers trying to start occupying actual Wall Street this morning.
This afternoon, to celebrate the two month anniversary of their strike, the #ows is going to shut down the subways, effectively fucking the rest of the 99%ers in NYC.
A better plan would be to shut down limo services dontchathink?

Last night, billionaire Michael Bloomberg sent a massive police force to evict members of the public from Liberty Square-home of Occupy Wall Street for the past two months. People who were part of a dynamic civic process were beaten and pepper-sprayed, their personal property destroyed.

Supporters of this rapidly growing movement were mobilized in the middle of the night, making phone calls, taking the streets en masse, and planning next steps. Americans and people around the world are appalled at Bloomberg’s treatment of people who peacefully assemble. We are appalled, but not deterred. Liberty Square was dispersed, but its spirit not defeated. Today we are stronger than we were yesterday. Tomorrow we will be stronger still. We are breaking free of the fear that constricts and confines us. We occupy to liberate.

We move forward in the grand tradition of the transformative social movements that have defined American history. We stand on the shoulders of those who have struggled before us, and we pick up where others have left off. We are creating a better society for us all.

Occupy Wall Street has renewed a sense of hope. It has revived a belief in community and awakened a revolutionary spirit too long silenced.

Join us as we liberate space and build a movement. 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at Sixth Avenue and Canal we continue.

Statement from OCCUPY WALL STREET

(via the NY Times)

um hello it was just temporary so they could clean up the massive amounts of trash those filthy people are generating every day in the park.  I dont have any problem with people protesting, and I agree with almost everything that they have to say… but those assholes need to also realise that human beings, and not JUST 1%ers do actually FUCKING LIVE ON WALL STREET AND WADING THROUGH TRASH EVERY DAY AND THE SMELL IS GETTING TO BE UNBEARABLE. Its not a permament eviction, its the health department and the people who live in the neighborhood being taken care of as well. If you lived here or knew more and believed more than just what you want to…you would understand that the people on #ows arent perfect little protesters and revolutionaries. A LOT of them are just assholes who feel like being around while history is being made, causing problems, making messes, harassing people, trolling and basically making life hell for anyone around them.

PEOPLE DO OCCUPY WALL STREET. Its their fucking address. The protesters need to start taking responsibiity for the landfill they are generating or no one is going to hear their message over their blatant lack of self-awareness. The last thing they should want is for their message to be ignored because of their immaturity.

The rest of the country has no clue what its like to live here.
